A Simple Jekyll Portfolio Theme

Posted on June 3, 2019October 14, 2020 by Robert Hafner

I write a lot of software, and I like sharing it with the world. So when I decided to redo my portfolio it was only natural that I release the theme itself as an open source project.

My goals for this were simple-

  • look nice and modern.
  • not be just a bunch of text.
  • easy to maintain.
  • free to host.

To that end I built a Bootstrap based Jekyll theme for hosting on Github Pages. Using the Jekyll collection features makes maintaining the site as easy as maintaining a YAML file.

The new Jekyll Portfolio Theme is available on Github and RubyGems. It is also extensively documented for anyone who wants to use it.

About

A place for me to rant about various development projects, random server weirdness, the eclectic world that is the bay area, what I had for lunch, and any other topic that comes to mind.
